Imagine my surprise I finally got chosen to do a skincare campaign. I was even more excited when I got to do a skincare campaign that involved CANNABIS. At the risk of making my parents super disappointed in me: I love weed ya’ll. Having studied it in college I am really familiar with its medicinal effects and benefits. Not to mention is is extremely fun to consume (sorry, mom).

Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil is the hot new ingredient that’s currently in a ton of skincare products, namely the new Simply Calm Line of Botanics Skincare. While it doesn’t have the THC inducing high, and it doesn’t have the effects of CBD I was pleasantly surprised at how well my skin took to it.

So, no, your skin won’t get all “buzzy” and you won’t trip out when using this every morning. Although, if you DO find a skincare product that does this then please link me below in the comments, because I am actively looking.

Sativa Seed Oil is derived from hemp seeds and contains anti-inflammatory properties that help to sooth the skin and control redness. This moisturizer says to use it twice a day, once in the AM and once at night. With this NY winter weather I didn’t really have to be told twice and I slathered it on my face before leaving for work, but lightly dabbed it on at night before putting on my face oils. After day 3, I noticed a slight difference in how my skin was after waking up: My skin was brighter, more even in color, it retained more moisture and was more “hydrated” than oily if you get what I mean.

PROS:

-Super thick

-It was free. (I mean… come on)

-I love the packaging. I can easily reuse this glass container for a homemade lip balm

-Suuuuuper hydrating. I don’t need to reapply mid day which is a relief.

-Vegan AND Cruelty-free

CONS:

-Not as fast absorbing as it says it is. You really got to rub it in or you’ll be left with white streaks on your face… but it’s worth it.

-Maybe not so well suited for warmer weather (but we’ll see)

-It’s got this odor to it?? It’s supposed to be unscented, but it’s got a whiff of something, but also I have a super sensitive nose

-Despite what it says. It doesn’t do well under makeup. My skin ended up oilier than normal.

BOTTOM LINE:

Would I buy it after my sample is used up? Most likely, yes. I’m not completely bothered by the scent, and it goes away after like 5 minute of application. I would totally add this to my winter routine.
